STAGE 1
Stage 1, for absolute beginners, covers all the techniques required to get you started in watercolour. After being introduced to the materials required, you will be taught the basic washes from which all paintings stem. All exercises are landscape-based and tutorials cover tone, composition, perspective, mixing greens, snow-scenes, sheep, masking media, skies, simple reflections and stone-walls.

STAGE 2
Stage 2 is a direct continuation from Stage 1. Seascapes are featured, along with a further look at reflections and the challenge of painting white water. Skies are revisited along with figures, line-and-wash, flowers, portraits and wildlife. One of the main aims of Stage 2 is to encourage students towards developing a more individual approach to their work.

STAGE 3
Stage 3 is a less tightly-structured, free-form workshop environment where subjects are largely student-led. Guidance is more customised to suit the individual needs of students - working to eliminate their weaknesses and capitalise on their strengths. Each year, lots of new and challenging subjects are added to the list of activities, which currently include sketching, industrial subjects, texture, watercolour pencils, speed-painting and outdoor work. Please note: Stage 3 tends to be extremely popular, with places being filled up to a year in advance. Therefore, early applications are strongly recommended.
