Day 2 - later Later on My first workshop went well - had 10 people turn up - don't know if that's good or not. It wiped me out, though! I've never conducted a workshop where the floor moves beneath you constantly, and the Brittannia Lounge, situated at the front of the ship, lovely as it is, has large windows giving me a constant view of the horizon as it shifts about. The art pack provided by Saga only has about 4 teeny tiny brushes, and as my 1st session was all about basic washes (and anyone who knows me knows I CAN'T STAND SMALL BRUSHES!!!), I had to provide my own brand spanking new wash brushes, with the offer to purchase if they wanted (yeah - right - like these poor fleeced passengers, who are being harangued to cough up money at every turn are gonna want to do that!). Then I forgot to take my saga-provided hairdrier to the session with me, so I excused myself to retrieve it from my cabin at the other end of the ship, only to find on my return that it didn't fit the sockets in the Brittania Lounge - another dash to my cabin to retrieve my own hairdrier + adapter (DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT ADAPTERS!! - another story). Anyway, the group seemed to think this was all hilarious. Needless to say, I spent the rest of the afternoon recouperating in my cabin, thinking how it must surely get better once I get used to it. The TV in the cabin has a choice of stations which includes a view from the bridge, looking towards the bow of the ship (technical nautical term there, folks, which you may not understand) which makes you feel like you're in a giant ship-simulator, a movie channel which today is showing Master and Commander (seriously) and a map shwing where we are. I sat watching this for ages, waiting for the little ship-shape to move, and worried about the islands we seemed to be only just missing, when I realised these were patches of deeper water, and not islands - phew, thought I might be a gonna there! Anyway, no more time to write - it's dinner time (followed by another quiz night and a comedian in the Ballroom).
