Friday morning - Benghazi If I have a gripe, it's the way they occasionally change the times of meals around. As I overheard someone else say on the Lido Deck this morning, we're creatures of habit, so for them to change the breakfast finishing time in the Lido from 10am to 9:30am throws a bit of a spanner in the works - many disappointed faces turning up, like me, past that time, a testament to that fact. Daft thing is; tomorrow, it'll almost certainly be changed back again. This morning we arrived at Benghazi, Libya. I'm expecting today to be similar to Tripoli, except they have advised us the Souks will be closed due to it being Friday, which is a holy day in these parts, although some shops will be open. Once again, a shuttle bus will be laid on to ferry folks to the lighthouse, from where it is but a 3-minute walk into the centre of the city. Last night I added another exotic food to my repertoire (I've already eaten Perch, Swordfish steak and lobster on this cruise). It was French Night, and although I didn't order it myself (I had French Onion Soup followed by a thick juicy steak in a B-something sauce and shalots), John, on our table, had Escargots and offered a taste to anyone who wanted one. So, I tasted a snail. Hm. Didn't taste of anything really, except the garlic bready-crumby dip it was served in. Not outlandlishly gross, but then not particularly pleasant either - just how I imagined eating a slug would be!
