Someone could read my mind; I’ve never made it a secret that my favourite brushes are Natural/Synthetic blends, since such a blend gives a brush extra ‘spring’ – I’ve always found pure sable to be too soft and floppy (and a tad on the pricey-side, of course). The brush had been handed to me by none other than Rosemary, of ‘Rosemary & Co.’.

Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to try it out, and wasn’t disappointed. Rosemary’s Sable/Blend brushes come in a choice of long or short handles (a great idea, I have to say – I really can’t be doing with long handled brushes, and often end up sawing their ends off to fit them into my kit). Not only did the brush perform extremely well, with a lovely, even, application and a good, solid point, but with the natural-wood handles, they look rather nice too.

Rosemary’s ploy paid off, because, at the end of the day, I was round at her stand, purchasing a handful of different sizes to complement my new Number 12, and I’ll be popping along to see her at Art In Action, where I know she exhibits, to complete my set, with a couple of flat wash brushes from the same series.

I’m always happy to give a shout-out for top quality, reasonably-priced art materials. For the full range on offer, check out Rosemary & Co’s website here… and be sure to tell Rosemary I sent you!…

I was at Patchings Art Festival last month, happily painting away at my stand, when someone came up from behind me and plonked a new brush into my hand, and an unseen voice declared how appalled they were at the shoddy state of the brushes I was using to paint my landscapes with.
