The park was delightful, ringing to the sounds of birds and a couple of sloths hanging from the trees. It’s clearly a park that they’re very proud of, since a lot of work is currently in progress, to improve the pathways through it.

Tall, straight palm trees rise up to the sky, and sculptures lurk between bushes. There are lots of places for visitors to sit, and an old, colonial-looking bandstand sits right at its centre.

We spent quite a bit of time in the park, photographing everything there was to see, and avoiding the local bloke who hassled everyone that passed through, on the pretence of being a local guide whose expertise should be worth at least one dollar (he was so highly informed that he kept referring to the sloth as a monkey… very annoying).

After the park, we took a walk down the main street of the town. Unlike the evening before, the street now seemed quite lively, with brightly-coloured shops and a couple of markets to entertain us. We managed to replace a few lost items; Tracey had managed to leave her hat on the bus after the Gatun lake tour at the same time that I was managing to leave my reading glasses and case on my bus. There were a few other little odds and ends that we managed to successfully replace before heading back to the ship. All-aboard time wasn’t until 1pm, but I had a class at 2pm, so we needed to grab some lunch before then.

This afternoon’s workshop was a view of Panama City from Flamenco Island, which seemed to go down very well. There’s now just one last session to go on this cruise, which ends in a few days time; most of the passengers will be getting off to fly home, and a new batch will be joining in Cozumel (I always find back-to-backs like this a little bit strange, if I’m honest…). Once all the new lot are settled in, and we’re on our way to Barbados, the sessions will start up again.

06/04/16 – Puerto Limon Day Two This morning, we took a leisurely walk into Puerto Limon.
