Unfamiliar ships always provoke a mix of emotions; on the one hand, it’s always fun discovering a new vessel, exploring all the decks and the lounges, and getting to know how they run things. On the other hand, I’m always slightly anxious about where I will be running my classes (large room or small? Lounge or Dining Room?), and at what times they will be scheduled (I prefer afternoons to mornings, but the final decision on that one is generally out of my hands). Am I going to have to run two classes or just the one? I’d rather run two classes of 25, for example, than one large class of 50, as it gives me the opportunity to attend to everyone on a more one-to-one level, providing what I would consider to be a higher quality workshop experience.

The Magellan is much larger than the Marco Polo, with a maximum of 1250 passengers to the Marco Polo’s 800. Then again, the CMV website describes the ship as boasting ‘a spacious interior, with wide corridors and expansive wooden deck areas providing comfortable surroundings for guests. However, the ship still provides an intimate atmosphere, with a huge range of leisure facilities, including bars and lounges, as well as multiple dining options.’ So there you have it. In a couple of days, Tracey and I will be able to see it for ourselves, as we head towards The Baltic Sea and Russia’s second largest city, St. Petersburg.

Bring it on…

On Saturday October the 1st, I will be joining the Cruise and Maritime ship MV Magellan, on a trip to the Baltic Cities and St. Petersburg.
