In fact, it deteriorated so much that Tracey headed for bed, missing dinner and the comedian’s show, and didn’t emerge until Monday morning, by which time the swell had eased us into much calmer waters (relatively speaking).

This was our first full day at sea, on our way towards Copenhagen, and my second class (A Tonal Study of Tallinn, one of our forthcoming port stops).

We had a little more time to set up the room today, which meant we were even able to grab some lunch before the class. Yesterday, I’d managed to get away with just running the one class, albeit a bit of a squeeze, and turning a couple of people away. We figured an extra table would cover the shortfall for day two, which was efficiently rustled up for us, but unfortunately, it didn’t account for the larger numbers that turned up… so I ended up running a second class (surprise surprise). Both classes were full (24 people per class).

Two consecutive classes can be very draining, and all I wanted to do at the end of them was to sit and drink cups of tea in the ‘Garden’. One of the things that attracted us to what we like to call the ‘Garden Deck’ (but is officially just listed as a sun deck) tucked discreetly away at the very back of the ship, was how relaxing and quiet it is, particularly since not many people seemed to have discovered it. Its minimalist design, coupled with several outdoor heaters make it a pleasant space to be in at any time of the day (even late in the evening, when its a little chillier). Needless to say… it has now been right royally discovered… and it’s suddenly become difficult to actually get a seat there… so, for me at least, the magic has gone out of it a little.

Tonight was also our first formal night, which meant best bib and tucker (my fave… not), and a show of Abba songs in the Show Lounge. We’ve seen the show loads of times before, on the Marco Polo, but you can’t dress up and not have anywhere to go.

Sunday afternoon and evening, the sea didn’t improve much.
