It’s always a pleasure visiting Dubrovnik, although having spent two days in isolation, going ashore anywhere would be a pleasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Needless to say; Dubrovnik didn’t disappoint. It was extremely busy (as always), but we enjoyed a potter around, preferring a relatively easy day as we were both still a little delicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shuttle bus ride from the port to the old town is about three miles, and the traffic was quite manic, to say the least. Once there, we drifted down to the small harbour where the sea kayaks launch from before heading into the walled city, famous for being ‘Kings Landing’ in Game of Thrones<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, we spent a couple of hours meandering through the streets and the throngs of tourists, pausing to check out the occasional gift shop, and even spending some money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We paused to enjoy the view of the main harbour, climbed the steps featured in Cersi’s ‘Walk of Shame’ (another GOT reference), popped into the cathedral to cool down, and made a note of the cable car visible beyond the walls, with half a mind on our next scheduled visit, which will hopefully be next year. We figured the view from the top of the high hill overlooking the city must be quite something… and we do<\/strong> love a cable car ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan was simple and we stuck to it. No wall circumnavigation on this visit (which has gone up to \u20ac40 per person, by the way, from \u20ac35 on our last visit), and by the time we’d got back to the ship we were really quite tired.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
