Today, we arrived back in Tilbury. Before any of the passengers had started to disembark, we were off the ship, heading for the passenger ferry right next door to the cruise terminal, to take us to Gravesend. Unfortunately, the next ferry wouldn’t come to pick us up for another hour, so we returned to the terminall and took a taxi into Grays, another nearby town to Tilbury, were we needed to undertake a few little jobs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Back on board ship, a little later, we commandeered the conference room to make use of our own wi-fi hotspots to check emails, download podcasts and update stuff…. ah, bliss!!!<\/p>\n

By early afternoon, the new batch of passengers were arriving in their droves, and Simon, the assistant cruise director, broke the news to us that we would be sharing the conference room with another crafter – a lady doing calligraphy, whom we met, with her husband a little later.<\/p>\n

Once we’d left port and were on our way, we noticed that Sandra (the Calligrapher) had stuck two notices up in the conference room windows, advertising her classes for the next day. On previous cruises, such practice has been frowned upon, with any such notices being in danger of being removed unceremoniously by the Hotel Director. What raised our eyebrows most, though, was the price she was going to be charging (much more than me), and that, along the bottom of the notice she’d added ‘Strictly No Latecomers!!’. Not to be outdone, I headed for the office to write my own notice; Richard, the Cruise Director found this amusing, describing my insistence upon wanting to put up a competing notice, as ‘Poster Envy’, which Tracey also found highly amusing… With my poster proudly anouncing an undercut of her price, I figured this could easily turn into ‘Poster Wars…’<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
