I don’t think anyone was entirely sure what to expect. When we got there at around midday, there was a slightly embarrassing delay of about an hour as our captain tried to park us in a tight space between a small cargo ship and what looked like a small naval ship. I’m always reminded of Reginal Molehusband on these sort of occasions (although – am I the only one that remembers Reginald Molehusband’s pitful attempts to park his car to the entertainment of onlookers? Maybe I imagined him…)..

Kaipeda was a quaint little place, with cobbled streets everywhere and lots of scupltures and art galleries. In its main square, a small band played as a newly-married couple danced brieflly. Not knowing were to start exploring, we picked up a leaflet in the Tourist Information Centre that not only gave us the information we were looking for, but also provided us with a recommended route of the olld town, taking in all the most notable sculptures, the oldest and most attractive buidlings, and a scuplture park. There was something very enchanting about the place, which was difficult not to like… we loved it!

In the evening, the finale to the ‘Comedy Legends’ portion of the cruise was all the comedy actors on stage together, answering questions from passengers; earlier in the day, they’d taken part in a hilarious version of the radio game show ‘Just a Minute’.

This is a shorter post than usual, and added a day late, because I came down with a bit of a temperature and a sore throat in the evening… hoping it’s something that’ll pass quickly….

What’s to be said about Kaipeda?
