Today was a sort of a sea-day; a river-day, if you will. We’ve been cruising down the river, on our way towards our next stop, Quebec City, and it’s been a bit on the murky side.<\/p>\n
There were several Pool Deck activities planned for this section of our voyage, but unfortunately they had to be abandoned due to inclement weather. Visibility has been extremely poor all day, and it’s rained pretty much all afternoon. One knock-on effect of this has been an unexpectedly good turn-out for my classes, which, because of the river-cruising, I had anticipated being a bit low (so, I was happy).<\/p>\n
I had a nice surprise today. It turned out that both Peter (the Wood) Counsell and (Card) Barbara, both who knew about my little shopping list, had each independently visited a stationers in Gasp\u00e9 and bought me packs of pencils, pencil sharpeners and erasers, and Peter Counsell had bought me four craft knives. How cool is that?<\/p>\n
An announcement was made this afternoon, during my classes, regarding a small change to our itinerary. Due to strong currents and changing sailing conditions in the St. Lawrence River, we’ll be arriving at Sept Iles a day early, and staying overnight. I can’t be sure, but I think that probably means I’ll be losing a class; hm… that would be payback for feeling smug about getting full classes due to the poor weather today. What do they say? Everything that goes around comes around…<\/p>\n
This evening, the show was ‘From Russia With Love’, a collection of dances and songs from the homeland of a large proportion of the showteam. I’ve seen it many times before, but it is still an impressive, and spectacular show. One of it’s particularly impressive elements being the fact that three of the English singers have had to learn Russian songs.<\/p>\n
My cold is much better today. Unfortunately, I’ve developed a slight cough, which I’m hoping isn’t going to worsen… my voice was barely a squeak this morning, although it’s more or less returned to fulll strength during the day. Fortunately, I get a couple of days off now, as we visit two of the largest destinations on our itinerary, Quebec and Montreal. Bring ’em on…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
