There’s been a deep swell for most of the day, making the going a little rough at times, but nothing we can’t handle. I ran my penultimate classes this afternoon (Seaspray and Sandpaper), which were well attended, and the pile of paintings for our exhibition on Monday is growing. Everybody’s fingers and toes are firmly crossed in the hope that the storm that has been raging in the Bay of Biscay will have moved on by the time we get there in the early hours of tomorrow; if it hasn’t then my final classes tomorrow, and our exhibition planned for Monday, may be in jeopardy…

We arrived at Vigo in Northern Spain at around 5pm (which is an improvement upon the original expected arrival time of 9pm). This was a late addition to the itinerary due to the delayed departure from Bristol and the subsequent loss of other ports. Tracey and I had an early tea and went ashore to have a look around. We don’t have a great deal of time here, and its dark, but as neither of us has been here before, it would seem daft not to at least take a short walk around.

We were pleasantly surprised; Vigo is clearly a hip and happening place, even at night. There were dinosaurs in a park (models, but hey…), endless street-side bars full of happy drinkers, floodlit fountains and statues, and a busy shopping centre, all within the vicinity of the cruise terminal. We both wondered what it might look like in the daytime… maybe another time…

Tonight, I took part in Blankety Blank and we enjoyed the magicians’ second performance of the cruise (Evans plus Evans).

This may be my last post before we return to the UK on Tuesday. We’ve been using a small Mi-Fi unit I bought specially for the trip, which allows us to access the internet using local 3G signals. Wi-fi on the ship’s network has become slightly troublesome, but I’ll post an update if I can.

Today, we’ve been at sea again.
