Considering the deterioration in sea conditions, I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout. Everyone seemed to enjoy the exercise, and much hilarity ensued when it came to painting in the two simple figures at the end; a very upbeat session, and a good one to finish off with. At the very least it kept people’s mind off the rocking of the ship for a while.

Unfortunately, the swell has increased, and the storm we were hoping to avoid simply isn’t playing ball. We spent the morning in Scott’s Bar, which is high up in the ship, and after a couple of particularly severe lurches tipped chairs over, depositing passengers unceremoniously onto the floor, it was announced that the bar would be closed until further notice.

As a consequence, all activities planned for Scott’s Bar were moved to the Captain’s Club.

Another knock-on effect of the weather meant the evening’s Rock n’ Roll show was reduced in size, by taking out the dancers and having the singers perform the songs in a cabaret style. We quite enjoyed this; it shifted the focus entirely onto the songs themselves, and despite a lurch of the ship at the beginning of the show resulting in a call for the medical team, it all passed without incident.

As Tracey and I left the Show Lounge, we wandered into the Captain’s Club just as they were preparing to start a game of ‘Mr & Mrs’, and were looking for their final couple to take part… bad timing!…. We did okay, though, and it was all just a bit of harmless fun

Today, I ran my last two lessons of the cruise (‘Puddles’).
