In Part Eight of the Watercolour for Beginners series, Peter Woolley explores the many ways of approaching Line and Wash.
Beginning with an exploration of the two most common methods (Ashness Bridge), Peter goes on to introduce his preferred ‘fusion’ technique. After conjuring up a line and wash ‘doodle’ of an imaginary City Walls scene, featuring the use of a chunky black marker pen, he concludes by illustrating the technique with three different test subjects; a Yorkshire Dales farm scene in Yockenthwaite, an abandoned cottage in Arkengarthdale and an old, disused, very rusty-looking Tractor.
