AT SEA – SECOND CLASSES
There’s not a great deal to report today. It is our second day at sea, which means more painting classes (the second class is a tonal study). I’m pleased to say that things were slightly less manic, although there were about a dozen folks waiting for us when we went down to the Amalfi, making the task of setting-up a bit awkward. Everyone wants to help, which is nice, but I must admit I prefer setting things up when there aren’t people already sitting at the tables.
Once again, the sea has been calm and the weather sunny and warm – not at all what we had expected, but very welcome.
Tonight was the first formal night of the cruise, where everyone gets dressed up in their finest glad-rags. Of course, one cannot get all dressed up and have nowhere to go, so we went to the Playhouse theatre to watch the second show by the Simon and Garfunkel tribute duo, ‘The Sound of Simon’. Again, we enjoyed it, although I think I would have been happier if they’d have sung ‘Scarborough Fair’ complete with the accompanying Canticle, and also syncopated the harmony, as Art Garkunfel does, in ‘The Dangling Conversation’. Overall, however, it was a fine performance with some great humour and interesting video footage of Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon between songs.
Tomorrow we will be arriving at our first port destination, Kristiansund… a day off, and a chance to go ashore… yeeey!
