Friday – At Sea
After a rather feverish night, I woke up with a very sore throat, and the prospect of two more classes. I’ve been Norman-Collier-ing all day, my voice remaining on the side of slightly squeaky; I got through it though, with lots of tea and water.
As the day wore on, my voice has diminished, to the point where I’m whispering or using sign-language. Tomorrow, Groups A and B have their lesson on Perspective – explaining the finer points of Linear Perspective through gesticulation alone is going to be interesting, to say the least.
Other than that, it’s been a rather quiet day at sea. The sun’s been out, and many people have been sunning themselves on deck. The sea itself was a little rougher than yesterday, with lots of white horses making the prospect of spotting any wildlife almost impossible. The ship hasn’t been too wobbly, though, with nothing more than a gentle roll most of the day.
Blog posts are a bit like buses once we get into this part of the world; nothing one day, then two come along at once. If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you might appreciate the fore-warning that, after Mindelo, there are 5 long days at sea. If last year’s experience is anything to go by, we expect to hit a sort of signal ‘dead-zone’ lasting approximately three consecutive days, when getting posts uploaded is pretty much impossible. Fore-warned is fore-armed; it seemed to cause some considerable worry amongst readers last year….
