Wednesday – Reykjarvik, Iceland

Today, we arrived in Reykjarvik, in Iceland. I had tour escorting duties, which meant an early start, breakfasted and on the quayside by 8am, ready for an 8:30am departure. Before describing my day in Iceland, I should mention what happened last night… I’d decided to hole-up in the cabin with a movie, to avoid all the dressing-up for formal night,...

Tuesday – At Sea

Today, we are at sea, heading North-West towards our next port-of-call, Reykjarvik in Iceland, and I have my second classes this afternoon (Tonal Study). Today, we arrived at our first port; Kirkwall, in the Orkney Islands, only 6 miles from Scotland, which meant I was able to connect to a non-roaming network on my phone and use my own wi-fi hotspot… yeeey! Apparently, Orkney comprises 67 rocks, islands and skerries, covering an area of 376 square miles and has a population of 21,000 human...

Saturday – First Sea-day – First Classes

Today was our first full day at sea, as we headed North, up the East coast of Britain, towards our first scheduled port-of-call; Lerwick in the Shetland Isles. At noon, however, an announcement was made that, due to our delayed departure from Tilbury (nowt to do with me, by the way; they were waiting for a delivery of essential supplies…...
