Sunday – Tilbury, London
Today, we arrived back in Tilbury. All the passengers left the Marco Polo to make way for a whole new bunch. Doing a back-to-back like this is a new experience for me; in the matter of only a few hours, the entire ship would take on a fresh new personality. In the past, I’ve always left the ship along with them, heading home, looking forward to broadband, home cooking and our big shower…
After breakfast, I accompanied Tracey to Tilbury Town railway station, a short 20 minutes walk from the Terminal, to see her off on her journey home, and returned back to the ship in the hopes of doing some work whilst I could get a decent wi-fi connection.
A short while after returning, I was told that our campervan, parked at that time in a large warehouse adjoining the terminal would have to be moved. It was decided that vehicles parked in there were at risk; the roof had suffered some damage in the high winds and with more storms on the way, they decided that it was unsafe… if I’d have known earlier, I could have run Tracey to the station in the campervan.
So, I had to return to the dockside to relocate Dora the Explorer to another long-term parking warehouse across the road… I’m sure the short run was good for her, though, and the alternative warehouse does look much sturdier (it’s just going to be a bit of a pain retrieving it in 6 weeks time).
Lots of new faces, and a few familiar faces too…
At 5:30, we leave for our first port of call, Amsterdam….
Here we go again….
