Wednesday – Feeling much better
The good news is; the cough has been much better today. Unfortunately, there seems to be an emergence of other cold symptoms – like the blasted lurgy has been all around the ship and finally made it back to me. Between a runny nose and a hacking cough, though, I know which I prefer; overall, you’ll be pleased to hear that I’ve been much less of a Mr Grumpy today.
Both yesterday and today, I’ve been doing portraits in the class. It’s a subject that a few people voiced trepidation over, and one or two even admitted to almost not turning up at all; the results were pleasingly good, though, with one or two clearly having done faces before, and several more, who claimed to never having painted a face, turning out remarkably good paintings. Today, I did have one lady leave before we got properly started, saying that she couldn’t handle it… which is actually something of a record!
Personally, I’m rubbish at doing portraits, but still enjoy the challenge of painting them… I think most people, when it came down to the wire, actually enjoyed themselves.
After the last class, we went for a late lunch, then I painted a turtle…
We have one more sea day tomorrow, then we’ll be in the Azores – the last two ports before home…
