The day started off with a bit of excitement. Not in a good way, unfortunately, since an announcement from the Captain at breakfast informed us that some poor soul would need to be airlifted off the ship to be taken to a hospital on the mainland.
With the impending arrival of a helicopter, much of the aft section of the ship needed to be evacuated. This meant that folks still in The Grill had to abandon their breakfast, effective immediately, likewise anyone on their cabin on the same deck.

Fortunately for us, we’d had breakfast quite early and were already down in the Coast to Coast getting ready for this mornings class when the announcement was made.

The airlift came and went, and all returned to normal, with an assurance from the Captain that the slight deviation from our course wouldn’t affect our arrival in Gibraltar.

The morning class was reasonably well attended (18) considering the disruption, and the fact that many folks missing their breakfast. The afternoon session was full at 30, once again.

Tonight was Formal Night, for which I have my dinner suit with bowtie. Or so I thought; when I took the suit off the hanger, I discovered that the trousers were missing, so standby normal suit + tie would just have to make do.

Formal night wouldn’t be formal night without an appropriate show to go to. Tonight we were treated to an enjoyable performance by Richard and Adam, from Britains Got Talent.

In other news: It’s still windy, but the sea has been getting progressively calmer, and we got our shuttle bus tickets today for Venice, which we’ll need in order to travel into the city without having to pay for expensive taxi fares or public transport.
