Monday – At Sea Again
We’re at sea once again, on our way to Mindelo, in the Cape Verde Islands.
Although my first class isn’t until 1pm, I set the alarm for 8am, to give us time to do some work. We were up in Marco’s for breakfast at a few minutes past 9, to the amazement of one or two of the regular early birds (Linda-the-Jewellery, and Neil-the-Speaker)… guess who forgot to put the clocks back an hour last night…
So; with an extra hour in our pocket (which, frankly, I could have done with sleeping), we took our cups of tea and coffee out on deck to watch the waves go by for a while before heading back indoors.
The morning was spent on administration, associated with keeping track of who has been to the classes, who hasn’t, who’s paid the small fee (per session) and who hasn’t, and who, from the extensive waiting list would like to start coming to the classes as soon as a space becomes available. I also did some online student work, all of which filled our morning up until classes time. Setting up is a whole lot quicker now Tracey is here, and the transitions from one class to another are far more efficient. I even managed to eat a couple of rolls for my lunch between the second and third classes, courtesy of Tracey, my Admin Department, Accounts Department, Procurement and Catering Departments.
This evening, the lass in Reception asked me, as I passed by, if I’d seen the Daily programme for tomorrow. When I told her I hadn’t yet, she handed me a copy… guess who made the front page…
The Daily Blurb, as I like to call it, on sea-days, always features a photograph and small write-up of someone working on board ship. These usually start with The Captain, then the Chief Engineer, Head Chef and Cruise Director… this time it was my turn… yippeee! It always creates a little extra interest, as passengers are able to learn a bit more about me and what I do – who knows… it might even boost the waiting list…
