Re-joining Borealis

Today, we re-joined Fred Olsen’s ship Borealis in Southampton, after a long drive South from West Yorkshire yesterday.

A night in the Four Marks Travelodge was followed by breakfast in the local cafe (called ‘Loaf’… very nice), and a brief mooch around Winchester, which reminded us a little bit of York (nice, but with considerably fewer charity shops, as far as we could tell…).

We arrived at the Cruise Parking place at about 12.45 (Radio Parking – highly recommended), where we dropped the car off and were transferred, after a short wait, to the cruise terminal.

Embarkation was relatively swift and painless, and we were soon on board in our cabin, and heading up to The View for lunch.

And so begins another cruise assignment; a short, 8-day adventure to Norway – again – which is almost a repeat of last month’s trip, but with a couple of slight changes to the itinerary. Our cabin is a mirror-image of the one we were in previously, it being on the opposite side of the ship. Having done it all last month, the Borealis is unlikely to hold any surprises for us.

We have two sea days ahead of us, and are due to arrive in Olden on Sunday, where we will be tendered ashore. Before then, I have a couple of classes to give – here’s hoping the correct number of kits arrive in the Studio, and that we don’t have the same chaos as last time…
