Saturday – Still at Sea

It’s Saturday, but it doesn’t feel like a Saturday. We’re also still at sea, so lectures are in full swing and the top deck sun loungers are full of roasting bodies.

After breakfast, I went to the office to organise some colour prints to supplement the 25 that I have already printed, in anticipation of another large turnout this afternoon. The rest of the morning was spent reading on the top deck.

This afternoon’s project was a street scene in Havana, complete with figures and classic 50s American car. I was a little worried that it might be too much of a leap from the basic washes of yesterday, and considered replacing it with something easier. However; we’ve just been to Havana, and the scene would be familiar to people, so I chose to keep it in on the basis that it never hurts to paint outside the ‘Comfort Zone’.

Yesterday we’d had 48 people turn up, today we had 50! A full class again, then, but I’m pleased to say that they all did rather well with the Havana scene… even the beginners… despite how challenging it turned out to be.
