This morning started a little earlier than yesterday. I set the alarm for 7:45am, so that we could get breakfast before setting up for the first class which had been rescheduled for 9:30am, second class at 11am. With no Christian Chat people to fight over the room with, all went decidedly smoothly. The Tonal Study I’d prepared for them was well received, with both groups handling the exercise without too muchh trouble.

We heard from, Barbara, one of the other crafters, that the deadlights have been closed on the lower cabins. This is a familiar occurrence as soon as there is any sign of less than smooth sea; happily for us, having been promoted to the 6th floor, our deadlights have remained open… how smug are we?….

I have to say that finishing in time to have a leisurely lunch and then having the whole afternoon to myself still feels like something of a novelty. I think I could get used to this morning lark…

Tonight, it was Formal Night.

I hate formal nights.

But I agreed, under sufferance, to get dressed up anyway, despite the fact that we always eat in the informal surroundings of Marco’s Bistro. Since there’s nothing worse than being all dressed up and having nowehere to go, we also decided we’d go into the show afterwards (Abba – seen it loads of times before, but hey… it’s formal night…). Unfortunately, I’d forgotten how jam-packed the Show Lounge can get, and the importance of bagging a bar seat at the back in good time. Needless to say, with only ten minutes before the start of the show, the only room left was the standing kind, so we filled our thermos mugs at the tea-station and headed back to the cabin to read.

We know how to live.
