today is thursday, so it must be CHILE

This is a short, quick, interim post to say that today we arrived in Punta Areas, in Chile, on the Magellan Straits. A full entry, complete with photos will follow as soon as I can, but I’m taking advantage of the fact that I have half-decent wi-fi for the first time in a week, and wanted to post an update while I have a signal.

Tomorrow, we’ll be in Argentina, where I am unable to use our data card, and if Buenos Aires is anything to go by, they don’t like to encourage their cruise ship visitors by offering wi-fi in the terminal (anyone would think they didn’t like us).

After that, we’ll be checking out Cape Horn (weather permitting), followed by several days sailing through the Magellan Straits and then Northwards along the Western side of the continent, through the Chilean fjords, where any signal, on-board wi-fi, or in fact, any internet access at all, will almost certainly be illusive or, more realistically (based on what I’ve experienced so far), non-existent.

We’re coming up to the half-way point on the whole trip… so far, so good!
