Entertainment At Sea

It’s been another relaxing day at sea. The weather has been sunny and warm, although the upper decks have been a little on the windy side, as it has been for the last couple of days.

Once again, my class was scheduled for this afternoon at 2pm, so breakfast was leisurely, and the morning was spent editing video and photographs on the Pool Deck, and drinking tea.

Clocks went forward one hour last night, and everyone seems very content and relaxed. Again, there was a point at which we sailed quite close to the Eastern coast of Spain, as we head Northwards towards Barcelona, which was just enough to retrieve emails and messages on my phone. Once again, I also had a full group for my painting class; today, I had them painting a stormy sky with crepuscular rays, which seemed to go down well.

The ‘Carry On’ elements of the cruise have been functioning as daytime features; interviews with the actors have been conducted in the mornings, followed by screenings of the movies in the afternoon. So far, we haven’t been to any, so I don’t know how popular they’ve been. I suspect the events have been well attended, although I can’t say that they’ve had any noticeable effect upon attendance of my classes.

In the evenings, there have the usual shows performed by the on-board showteam; I say ‘usual’ because we’ve seen most of them many times before, so it’s rare that we go along to watch them unless we are particularly in the mood for a show, preferring to spend the evening in the Taverners pub. We do go to see the other guest acts, though; the other evening we watched a comedian, Les Bryan, and this evening, we’ve been thoroughly entertained by an act we’ve never seen before, Davey Macauley, who is an Irish magician, and a real breath of fresh air – we loved him; he was excellent!

Tomorrow, we are due to arrive in Barcelona, Spain. We haven’t been given any escorting duties, which will mean we’ll have the day to ourselves… yeeeeey!
