ROCKING OUT IN THE BRITANNIA LOUNGE
Today we were back at sea, and back in what has become the daily routine of such days. By that, I mean; up with the alarm at 7:30am and down in the Art and Craft Room on Deck 7 between 8:30am and 9:30am for people to sign in to today’s art classes.
Once again, we successfully signed in a full 20 guests for each class, with such precision that no one was turned away and no-one went away disappointed. I’m pleased to say that the two classes – where we painted a small boat and explored simple reflections – went without any incidents.
Going back to the daily routine…
After sign-in, we head up to The Grill for breakfast, and are back in the Art and Craft Room in time to start at 11am. At 12noon, someone starts playing the piano downstairs. It’s all open-plan, so I try to get all my speaky-bits out of the way before then. I could do without the piano accompaniment but hey…
We’re usually done and all packed away by about 12:45pm, and have a small amount of chillout time in the cabin before going to lunch at around 1:15pm.
After lunch we return to the cabin and while away some qualty balcony time before attending the Britannia Lounge for our covid tests at 2:50pm. That’s all over very quickly, and we are required to then return to our cabin and await the results, which are telephoned to us a short time after. Once we’ve been cleared., it’s back down to the Art and Craft Room to set things up in time for the afternoon class, which starts at 3:30pm. We’re normally done and cleared away by just this side of 5pm.
Today, after class, we decided to go upstairs to explore the two topmost decks, known as the Observation Deck and the Sun Deck. As we were walking, the captain made an announcement over the PA system to the effect that we were originally due to be putting clocks forward again tonight, but he has decided to leave it as it is, and essentially keep us on ship time when we are in our next port, Tunis. He was also pleased to announce that all of today’s Covid tests were negative.
Tonight, after lunch, we decided to go and check out some of the Spirit of Adventure’s night-life, and ended up in the Britannia Lounge, where the Spirit of Adventure Trio were entertaining a relatively sparsely populated, but very appreciative, Lounge. This was followed some time later by the Spirit of Adventure Band (another trio – so that’s potentially a little confusing), who played music to dance to… so that’s how we finished off the evening; rocking out in the Britannia lounge.
My very first cruise placement was on the Saga Ruby back in 2006, on which I befriended a lovely lady called Dulcie. It was great, therefore, to discover that Dulcie is also on board and we were able to reminisce about ‘The Ruby’ and ‘The Rose’.
There’s just one more sea day tomorrow before we are due to arrive in Tunis, Tunisia.
